About

My name is Brooke Eades and I am a Journalism Major at the University of Wyoming. I grew up in Casper, Wyoming and I am proud to call this beautiful state my home.

I am creating this blog to post my work and to open up about important issues regarding this rapidly changing world of journalism. I feel that so much is happening and it is important that young journalists really try to grasp where this field is heading. By doing so I plan to promote my media career and post my recent work so that those who want to follow me can easily do so.

In the future, I aspire to become a successful broadcast journalist for a television or radio news program.

I have already had some amazing journalism opportunities and I cannot wait to see what else the future holds for me. I have had the privilege of interning at K2 Radio News under the direction of Bob Price. While there I was able to write, produce and broadcast stories. This past summer, I wrote and recorded a two-part program on “Report to Wyoming” about the Wyoming cowboy who inspired the book and the movie The Horse Whisperer.

I am extremely passionate about writing, especially when it comes to feature stories. I was thrilled last spring when a feature that I wrote about a man competing in the Iditarod was published on the front page of the Casper Star-Tribune.

In my time as a journalist I have interviewed Tom Brokaw, Barack Obama, Ann Compton from ABC News, Greg Kelly from Fox and Friends and many other astounding people. I love hearing individual’s stories and seeing the inspiration that can be found in human beings.

Hobbies and Interests-

Being from Wyoming and living on Casper Mountain it probably goes without saying that I love the outdoors. I enjoy riding horses, hiking, camping and just being outside in general.

Music is also another passion of mine. I started singing the National Anthem for Casper College basketball games when I was seven and since then have opened for events like the College National Finals Rodeo, the Casper Shootout and the Hap Dumont Little League World Series. I was a member of the Casper Children’s Chorale and sang under the direction of Marcia and Pat Patton. I sang in seven European countries with the Wyoming Music Ambassadors and have also performed in  New York, Washington D.C. (the Kennedy Center), Chicago, and around the western states with various singing groups.

I am currently the Advocacy Chair for University of Wyoming’s Colleges Against Cancer. I am extremly passionate about cancer prevention and cancer prevention legislation. I have spoken on the floor of the Wyoming Senate and House regarding these issues and helped provide research to draft a tanning restriction bill. I am also a volunteer for Jason’s Friends Foundation.
